A special series of Articles
by B_Deserter ini've decided to write a series of articles aimed not at jws or ex-jws, but non-jws caught in the "crossfire" between the individual and the organization.
too often the loved ones of ex-jws feel like they're on the sidelines when it comes to religious issues.
i wanted to help the woman who's husband still won't decorate the christmas tree, the man who's wife will cook a ham but won't hide eggs for the kids on easter, or just anyone wondering why their significant other is being shunned by his/her family at the behest of a book publishing corporation.

My condolences to you and your family.
Life in any high control, authoritarian organization like the WT is stressful for many followers. I don't know if it's enough to affect suicide rates or not. Either way, suicide is very painful for all involved. Take care of yourself during this difficult time.

No big H No Borg??
by Luo bou to inif the threat was not always just around the corner would anyone join?
what would be the point?
they teach that everyone gets a resurrection onto a paradise earth and are judged on how they; then behave:so if you knew the end would not come in your lifetime ,why would you bother trying to be good now?.

You have asked multiple questions so I have multiple answers.
I think the threat of Armageddon right around the corner causes many to stay JWs, if they believe it. I don't know if it causes people to join, since reasons for joining a cult are complex and varied and often involve social relationships.
As far as being good out of fear of punishment or promise of reward, that may motivate some. However, I think that part of maturing as a human being is to get beyond that. That is appropriate for children. It shouldn't be for adults, and certainly not for anyone who is trying to have a spiritual life. I am reminded of the Muslim saint Rabia of Basra. The story goes that she walked the streets of her town with a flaming torch in one hand and a pail of water in the other. She said she was going to use the fire to burn down paradise and the water to douse the flames of hell. She wanted to love God out of a pure heart, not for fear or gain.
Whether one believes in God or not, having a sense of values and following them contributes to the quality of life of those who do it.

Is Being A Snitch A Popular Activity In The Kingdub?
by Yizuman inhow often do dubs hear someone snitch about a wrong doing from a brother or sister?.
how often do you hear of a snitch going to the elders to stir up a lynch mentality against a brother or sister?.
is there some points being earned for all this or do they think jehovah will reward them for being a snitch?.

Regretfully, I have reported on JWs who I thought were "sinning" too. I didn't enjoy doing it, in fact I always felt bad about it. But the WT teaches that not reporting sin to the elders will cause the Holy Spirit to be removed from the entire congregation. Any who knew and didn't tell would be responsible for that. I reported on others because I was afraid not to.

Do you think your JW family REALLY hates you? Or do they THINK they love you?
by BonaFide ini am referring to some of us that have had bad experiences with our jw family and friends.
even those of us that are "active" but we have expressed certain things about the organization.. do you really feel your witness family hates you?
or does your family think they are being loving to you by doing things "jehovah's way?".

"About a year ago I made a comment to someone in my family about how there needs to be more articles in the Awake about precautions about pedophiles. Her reply? "We shouldn't question Jehovah."
This is the real problem in my opinion. Because they equate the WT Society with God himself, they believe everything that is taught to them. If the WT says shunning someone is showing love to them, they accept it. When all "facts on the ground" prove otherwise, they still believe their god/WT.

Awesome blog re blood issue
by rebel8 injust found this.. http://freeminds.org/blogs/kerry-louderback-wood/kerry-louderback-wood-an-introduction.html .

Louderback-Wood writes, "Since writing my paper, I have seen situations where the Watchtower Society recommends medical treatment that is not routine and even outright deadly. It goes beyond tomatoes and Coke that the African woman demanded at childbirth. In the Canadian case of Bethany Hughes, the Watchtower Society demanded the doctors administer arsenic to a leukemia child (arsenic not a treatment for this type of leukemia). I’ve also heard multiple stories that the Watchtower Society suggests Factor VII be given to non-hemophiliac patients, causing strokes and heart attacks."
If this is accurate, can't they be charged with practicing medicine without a license?

"What I found to be true is that the only rule you really have to follow is showing submission to the WB&TS."
You hit the nail on the head. That's all they really care about. Everything else is just a way to measure it.

About the "but it's run by imperfect men" argument.
by SPAZnik inby the same token, couldn't any religion use the same argument to excuse their flaws and atrocities?
they are, after all, run by "imperfect" men as well.
i guess that means they're actually inspired of god too, but simply run by imperfect men who make mistakes..
